Material & Finish

Both 2020 and 4040 extrusion profiles are ASTM 6063 T5 aluminum alloy and anodized.

Each of them has two colors: silver and black.

Size & Shape

2020 extrusion profile is 20mm x 20mm metric 20 series square including T-slot profile and V-slot profile. It has only one T&V slot on each side of the four.

Other sizes of 2020 series are 20mm x 40mm, 20mm x 60mm and 20mm x 80mm. And the shapes of them are shown in the picture below:

4040 extrusion profile is 40mm x 40mm metric 40 series square including T-slot profile and V-slot profile. Not like the 2020 extrusion profile, it has one T&V slot or  two T&V slots on each side. And section shapes of 4040 profile series are much more than 2020 series'.

Other sizes of 4040 series are 40mm x 60mm, 40mm x 80mm, 40mm x 120mm and 40mm x 160mm.

Application

2020 extrusion profile is used for products such as lightweight instrument frames, 3D printer frames, measurement equipment frames and display panels.

4040 extrusion profile is a high load-bearing frame profile. It is often used to build mechanical fences, workshop workbenches/operating platforms, material trucks, shelves, mechanical equipment frames, protective covers, scientific research experimental platforms, etc.

4040 extrusion profile is equipped with systematic and modular common connection accessories. So people use it to quickly build difficult frameworks with some simple tools.

Besides, the 4040 extrusion profile with Two T&V slots belongs to 2020 profile series  and shares the same accessories with other 2020 profiles such as 2020, 2040, 2060 and 2080. So we can use them together to build a framework system.
